1966 Ford Mustang
SOLD

VERY WELL RESTORED, CORRECT VINTAGE BURGUNDY, 289 V8, 5-SPEED, AC, PS, SOLID!
When Ford unveiled the Mustang it was without a doubt a risky venture, because it broke the mold for successful US vehicle sales since World War II. Shorter wheelbase, sleeker, V8 power on tap and most importantly - Affordable so that the working man could afford it. The response? Sales through the roof and it is still regarded as one of the greatest vehicle launches of all times and left GM and Chrysler playing catch up.
Today, these iconic cars have stood the test of time and still stand today as cars that can be enjoyed by any and all. But, go to any car show and you'll see a ton of them... So how do you make a classic Mustang stand out at a crowded car show? Easy... Take a look at this gorgeous 1966 Mustang fastback that is a near perfect mix of originality and tasteful upgrades. Powered by a 289 V8, you'll immediately see in the engine bay how the original the engine looks. However, look closely and you'll see the Factory A/C style compressor that has been converted to R134 A/C, new suspension thanks to Global West and a fresh coat of Vintage Burgundy that believe it or not is a factory color from 1966. Oh and did we mention it has a 5-speed manual for highway use? That's right, this isn't your typical run of the mill Mustang!
It starts with a near perfect straight body that has been covered with a correct 1966 coat of Vintage Burgundy. The recipient of a complete professional repainting in 2016, today the car looks like it was painted yesterday. As far as we can tell the body is almost 100% original sheetmetal, short of the rear taillight panel that was replaced during the painting, it all appears to be original to the car. Take a glance at the photos underneath it, you can see the sheet metal isn't cut up or patched at all. The floors look incredible. The only thing that was done when it was converted to a 5-speed manual from the original automatic transmission. All the work was done professionally and shows very well from the bottom.
Inside, the originality theme continues. Everything looks period correct for a '66, short of tasteful upgrades like the 5-speed handle diagram and the AM/FM cassette player. Originally leaving the factory with a standard black vinyl interior, you can see it has the GT gauge cluster, console and fold down rear seats. Done up very well and clean throughout, you can see that someone really took their time to make this interior look as good as it does.
Underneath you'll see that the suspension has all been gone through and features quality products from Global West throughout. All the bushing have been replaced, new shocks throughout and the results are a ride down the road like you would expect it to. Stopping power comes from front disc brakes and rear drums. In front of those you'll find 17" Shelby style wheels wrapped in fresh black rubber.
