1963 Ford Fairlane
EXTREMELY SOLID BODY, GREAT DRIVER, 170CI 6-CYLINDER, 3 ON THE TREE, SPARE PARTS
By 1963, the Ford Fairlane was going strong as a popular domestic model and had just entered its fourth generation the year before. Though the fourth generation Fairlane began in 1962, the 1963 model received a facelift that almost resembled the Falcon. These fairlanes were loved by hotrodders and car guys because they and still are affordable options from Ford that you could cut up and make your own. Because of this, it's extremely rare to find one that is unmolested, yet that's this 1963 Ford Fairlane in front of you. This driver still features the 6-cylinder, three on the tree and one of the most solid bodies we have ever seen on a classic.
This particular example is in well-loved condition. Aside from some obvious driver quality cosmetic issues, the body of this Fairlane is incredibly straight and appears to have almost no filler anywhere on it. The car is wearing an older repaint which is best described as a nice five-footer. It is likely that a good buff and wet sand would go a long way on this car! All of the brightwork is present, and some pieces are showing that aged patina we all want. It currently sits on newer Mustang wheels, but the original steel wheels and wheel covers are included with the sale. This is an honest, unrestored example.
Under the hood sits a 170 cubic inch inline six-cylinder engine; what would've been factory for this car, so don't be fooled by the 200 cubic inch labeled air cleaner. The engine bay is extremely authenitc for its look and includes a lot of original parts. This little six cylinder fires up easily, runs extremely smooth and is hooked up to a 3-speed column shift “three on the tree” transmission.
Inside the car you'll find an aging but clean interior that would be just fine for use as a daily vehicle. The seats are all mostly intact with some age and wear showing and our guess is the rear seats are original since the material does not match. As far as what the interior might need going forward, you might consider a radio as it is missing from the dash and the headliner will need replaced at some point. Otherwise it is complete and serviceable interior. All the gauges work as they are supposed to and ultimately you could view it as a blank canvas or enjoy it as is.
In addition to the original wheels and wheel covers, an assortment of spare parts is included with the sale such as a transmission, air cleaner, horns, and more. Also included is both a 1963 and 1964 shop manual. If you're looking for a nice enough little car to daily for now and maybe restore down the road, this is the car for you! On the other hand, with how straight the body is, this would be an excellent candidate for a restoration, race car, or resto-mod/pro touring vehicle.
