1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS
3-YEAR BUILD, DURAMAX V8, 1000HP, 1800FT-LBS TQ, FEATURED ON GAS MONKEY!
***THIS IS A 1972 CHEVELLE WITH 1970 FRONT SHEET METAL. TITLED CORRECTLY AS A 1972.***
Just when you think you had seen everything that could be done to a car this 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle Restomod arrives with one of the most wild and impressive builds we have ever seen. The product of an exhaustive 3-year build by The Muscle Factory in Placentia, California, this Chevelle is packing some serious horsepower and torque from an unlikely power source. Under the hood sits a twin-turbo 6.6L Duramax V-8 that puts nearly 1000 hp and 1700 ft-lbs of torque to the pavement! Oh, and did we mention it is capable of 30 mpg? Look closely at all the details of this build and you'll start to see how this might be the best build we have ever seen.
This 3+year build got its beginnings when the owner took a ride in an H1 hummer with a Duramax diesel that was as quick as nearly anything he had driven at that point but was 8,000lbs. 3-years, $250,000 and countless hours of labor later, the diesel-powered creation was finished. It was featured at SEMA in the Bassani Exhaust booth and then was featured in numerous magazines as a featured car including the Cover of Hot Rod Magazine, Cover of Diesel World, Cover of Popular Hot Rodding, Cover of Chevelle Muscle and the Cover of Popular Hot Rodding and featured in many more online and print publications. Obviously not wanting to cut up an original '70 Chevelle, the owner found a solid '72 Chevelle and gave it the look of a '70.
Most recently the Chevelle was featured on Discovery Channel's famous Gas Monkey Garage when the Current owner 2018 NASCAR Cup Series Champion Joey Logano took Richard Rawlings for a few doughnuts in the mean machine.
When something is this custom, its probably easiest just to state the facts like we have below. Ultimately, you'll be surprised at how easy this car is to drive. Even with the 21" wide rear wheels, this car handles like a dream. But that's because every aspect of this car was painstakingly analyzed and no expense was spared. Just look at the details below and you'll see how this car has made us start to question why we haven't seen more Diesel powered classic cars roll through here.
